The thing is… that Heineken Regatta events have happened successfully for so many years at Kim Sha Beach in Simpson Bay that many people have yet to even realize that it has a new location this year! Of course viewing the action from Kim Sha Beach is still possible and the favorite locations such as the Yacht Club, Buccaneers and Topper’s are ready to party as usual, so we still advise Regatta guests to enjoy the jumping Simpson Bay area. But do we want to make sure that everyone is aware that the actual Regatta Events will be held at Port de Plaisance.
After a bit of snooping around today, it seems to be a pleasant shift of location. The vast grassy fields offer up plenty area to set up a Regatta Village of tents vending out some of your favorite treats such as Gigi’s Organic, Topper’s Rhum and Dominos Pizza. This secure location with guarded entry just after the causeway on the way to Colebay offers up ample parking and of course the actual Casino at PDP and it’s regular restaurants.
Curious to check out the actual sailing races well then click the link to our our previous article below to see maps of the race courses. Watching the boats pass through the Simpson Bay Bridge at the end of each race day is a great way to get up and close for a photo opp. You will surely be entertained by the crews as they dance and wave through the passage.
